Evolve is proud to announce that the US Patent and Trademark Office awarded Evolve a patent for its innovative redundant and scalable generator solution.

Application: Provide a redundant and scalable generator solution in a single enclosure

Challenge: While generators are purchased to provide redundancy for power, often they wind up being a single point of failure. Prior to Evolve's patent, to achieve redundancy and scalability in a generator system required expensive paralleling gear, multiple enclosures, and a tremendous amount of real estate.

Solution: Evolve invented a design where multiple engines could be installed in a single enclosure and be paralleled using individual controllers versus expensive paralleling gear. Thus, in the same footprint as a single large engine, Evolve can configure multiple smaller engines in an N, N+1, and N+2 configuration. 

Benefits:

• Achieve redundancy in a single enclosure
• Eliminate the cost and need for expensive paralleling gear
• Can maintain each engine individually while the remainder of the system stays online
• Even if there is a catastrophic failure in one engine, the remaining stay online and continue to provide power
• Expensive large load banks are no longer necessary to fully test the generator system as each engine can be tested either with building load or with a much smaller load bank saving big time on cost
• Replacement parts for smaller engines are far less expensive than larger engines and are more readily available
• Lead times on the smaller engines can be significantly shorter
